Multistability and nonsmooth bifurcations in the Quasiperiodically forced Circle Map

چکیده
It is well-known that the dynamics of the Arnold circle map is phase-locked in regions of the parameter space called Arnold tongues. If the map is invertible, the only possible dynamics is either quasiperiodic motion, or phase-locked behavior with a unique attracting periodic orbit. Under the influence of quasiperiodic forcing the dynamics of the map changes dramatically. Inside the Arnold tongues open regions of multistability exist, and the parameter dependency of the dynamics becomes rather complex. This paper discusses the bifurcation structure inside the Arnold tongue with zero rotation number and includes a study of nonsmooth bifurcations that happen for large nonlinearity in the region with strange nonchaotic attractors.

Nonautonomous saddle-Node bifurcations in the Quasiperiodically Forced logistic Map
We provide a local saddle-node bifurcation result for quasiperiodically forced interval maps. As an application, we give a rigorous description of saddle-node bifurcations of 3-periodic graphs in the quasiperiodically forced logistic map with small forcing amplitude. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification.
متن کاملThe creation of strange non-chaotic attractors in non-smooth saddle-node bifurcations
We propose a general mechanism by which strange non-chaotic attractors (SNA) can be created during the collision of invariant tori in quasiperiodically forced systems, and then describe rigorously how this mechanism is implemented in certain parameter families of quasiperiodically forced interval maps. In these families a stable and an unstable invariant circle undergo a saddle-node bifurcation...
متن کاملStrange non-chaotic attractors in quasiperiodically forced circle maps
The occurrence of strange non-chaotic attractors (SNA) in quasiperiodically forced systems has attracted considerable interest over the last two decades, in particular since it provides a rich class of examples for the possibility of complicated dynamics in the absence of chaos. Their existence was discovered in the early 1980’s, independently by Herman [1] for quasiperiodic SL(2, R)-cocycles a...
متن کاملCritical point of tori collision in quasiperiodically forced systems
We report on a type of scaling behavior in quasiperiodically forced systems. On the parameter plane the critical point appears as a terminal point of the tori-collision bifurcation curve; its location is found numerically with high precision for two basic models, the forced supercritical circle map and the forced quadratic map. The hypothesis of universality, based on renormalization group argu...
متن کاملDynamics of Small Perturbations of Orbits on a Torus in a Quasiperiodically Forced 2D Dissipative Map
We consider the dynamics of small perturbations of stable two-frequency quasiperiodic orbits on an attracting torus in the quasiperiodically forced Hénon map. Such dynamics consists in an exponential decay of the radial component and in a complex behaviour of the angle component. This behaviour may be twoor three-frequency quasiperiodicity, or it may be irregular. In the latter case a graphic i...
